How to think about Shopify cost
The subscription price is only one part of Shopify cost. A realistic budget may include the monthly plan, payment processing, third-party transaction fees if you do not use Shopify Payments, paid apps, premium themes, domain registration, email marketing, creative assets and advertising.
| Plan area | Best for | What to evaluate |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Solo founders and new stores | Core online store, products, checkout, shipping and basic reporting. |
| Grow / Shopify | Small teams and growing stores | More staff access, stronger reporting and better operational flexibility. |
| Advanced | International or higher-volume stores | Advanced reports, lower transaction costs and more complex shipping or market needs. |
| Plus | Complex, enterprise or high-volume businesses | B2B, advanced customization, higher support level and enterprise workflows. |

Choosing the right plan
If you are testing a new idea, begin with the simplest plan that lets you launch properly. Upgrade when the store needs more staff accounts, stronger reporting, lower transaction costs, international features, B2B functionality or enterprise-level controls. Do not choose a higher plan only because it sounds more professional; choose it because the additional features reduce friction or improve margin.
After reviewing cost, return to the Shopify store guide and prepare your launch checklist.
